I love this perspective, Jon. I feel so motivated after reading it.

In my opinion, the "delusion" is our innate belief --> which is why I loved the point about connecting with your inner child.

Somewhere along the way, various people in our lives throttle our expectations of ourselves because they weren't able to achieve their dreams.

We can't let that pierce our bubble of confidence, or delusion as you say.

So valuable and motivating.

Thanks, Eren! You’re right about others expectations. We gotta take the power back and live for ourselves, even if we look crazy.

Much love to you 🙏🏾

Lovely essay - I strongly believe in the power of self-delusion in order to maintain that north arrow. It's too easy to be winded off course by little waves and others opinions, but that steady internal hand (aka delusion, at times) is necessary. Also - Gambino album is fire.

Thanks, rish. Glad you could connect with it. I too think it takes a little “crazy” to live according to as you said, that north arrow. And 100% brother. It’s been on rotation heavily.

The beauty of Self delusions and knowing our true selves blocks the voices of the ego that wants us to stay confined in the prison cell. Thanks for this inspiring piece!

Another wisdom packed essay, Jon. I love when an author’s library in their mind shines through in their work. I assume you’ve built up your database of knowledge through years of reading widely. And of course a good dose of life experience. 👏

Appreciate that Amy. The database is definitely a mixture of both lived experience and the obsessive need to learn.

The more I publicly state that goal, the realer it seems in my mind.

This certainly resonated and is I think very useful. I have achieved much of what

I wanted in life but I am sitting on the precipice of retirement, still working at 73. I actually love my work and have plans for it yet. However, I have those p,and I have cherished since childhood that perhaps I can yet accomplish. I love airplanes and want desperately to fly. I plan flying lessons despite having medical black marks against me (heart attack and stroke). I will try for aFAA waiver so I can pursue a Private Pilot license.

Good luck to you John! I hope you get that license and get to fly just like you’ve been dreaming you would.

I think sometimes I live on self-delusion. It is what gets me up,in the morning. Thinking that Today will be different!
